HAIR LOSS IN MEN AND WOMEN
HAIR LOSS IN MEN AND WOMEN
Article by Dennis Elie
Hair loss in women can be absolutely devastating for self image and emotional well-being, and can be seen to some women as losing their femininity. Hair loss and menopause are commonly linked and result in thinning hair in older women. Since hair loss doesn’t appear to be life threatening, physicians often overlook women’s complaints about hair loss and essentially tell their patients that “it’s no big deal,” and that” you’ll just have to live with it. Hair loss can occur in women for reasons other than female-pattern baldness. If not checked on time, it can often permanently impede looks and destroy self confidence, qualities one cannot do without in today’s competitive and appearance judgment world. Hair loss is so common that most of the time it is considered a normal variation and not a disease. It has few medical complications, but several serious conditions can cause it. Hair loss is a gradual process, some research has indicated that it takes 5 years or more for follicle roots to fully cease.
Male
Male-pattern baldness, is a condition that affects 40 million men in the United States alone. In addition to genes, male-pattern baldness seems to require the presence of the male hormone testosterone. Two out of every three men can expect to be bald or balding (male pattern baldness) by the time they reach the age of 50, and as many as 36% of American women between the ages of 40 and 49 agonize over the loss of their hair. Two-thirds of all men will eventually be affected by male pattern baldness. The genetic causes of male pattern baldness and other common diseases of genetic hair loss are more complex than most people think. The male pattern baldness genes can come from your mother just as easily, but may be less noticeable since it’s often slower to develop in women. For instance, male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) is thought to result from such genetic predisposition. Experts in male hair loss tell us that about half of all men will suffer some form of male pattern hair loss over their lifetime.
Female
Female pattern baldness involves a thinning throughout the scalp while the frontal hairline generally remains intact. Female pattern hair loss is generally a change to thinning hair rather than just falling out, and is more noticeable on the top of the head. Female pattern baldness, much like male pattern baldness, usually occurs as a result of a single hormone known as DHT, or Di-Hydrotestosterone. Female hair loss appears as a thinning of hair over the upper crown area, along with an overal loss of hair density. Hair loss in females, while often less noticeable than male hair loss, can be far more emotionally damaging. In females, the hair becomes thinner over the entire surface of the scalp. Hormones can also cause hair loss if female hormones (estrogens), are out of balance. Some causes can come from hormonal therapies such as Progesterone, a female hormone that inhibits the development of a new follicle. While women can suffer female pattern baldness with thinning in the crown, temples and hairline, they also are more likely to have a diffuse hair thinning throughout the entire scalp which limits their hair restoration options.
Treatments
We started investigating about natural hair loss products and treatments in 2005. Fortunately, there are a number of excellent medical treatments that can prevent or postpone male hair loss when in its early stages and surgical hair restoration treatments that can restore a completely natural look, even if the hair loss has advanced. Over the past 10 years, treatments have improved dramatically, particularly with the introduction of the oral medication finasteride (Propecia) and the development of the surgical hair transplant procedures Follicular Unit Transplantation and Follicular Unit Extraction. Our extensive search for a safe and reliable remedy, uncovered what we find to be the best on the market, is a new product that is causing a buzz, and that is Provillus Hair Loss Treatment
Provillus Hair Loss Treatment is mild and no side effects occur as it is reported to be a very friendly medication for hair loss as compared to past hair loss treatments which included plenty of tablets at a time. Many people argue that it is not effective on women, so it should be known that a separate provillus hair loss treatment for women is now available for their loss treatments.
